  • What an evening, like no other

Well, back now from seeing my Dad.  It was probably one of the worst things I have ever done.

He doesn't look good at all.  He is still unresponsive, they had 2 other doctors come in to give second opinions.  Guess what, they don't know what is going on either.

It's horrible to see him lay there hooked up to all those machine.  My mom is waiting to hear back from the doctor.  We have decided as a family to let him go.  We all think it is best right now, there are no other tests they can do, and we have to think of him, not ourselves.

My heart goes out to my Mom, it has to be especially hard on her.

I'll update when I know anything else.

  • Off to see my Dad

Not looking forward to this today...

  • Phone call from Mom - She talked to the Dr.

Well tonight wasn't good news.  They are trying one last thing.  They are going to take him off all of his medications and see if that does anything.  They are thinking that might reverse whatever is going on if it is one of the mediations - but it's a long shot.  I think they are just drawing straws right now.

They are calling in a neurologist in the morning because my dad has developed a twitch. I don't know much more about it right now.

The other bad news is that the Dr. said that if this doesn't do anything we need to make a decision within the next couple of days.  There isn't much else they can do - they have has 7 different specialists in the past week - spinal taps, MRI's, CAT Scans... you name it.  And believe it or not, none of them show anything and none of the Dr's can tell anything.

I don't know what more to say right now, my Mom asked me to go with her tomorrow afternoon to see him.  I wonder if I will have to say goodbye as well...

    This just sucks

  • White blood count really high

Tonight was a nice evening with the family.  It has been since my did went into the hospital since we were all together.  Not good since we all live within 5 miles of each other...  Nice home made dinner that my mom cooked up for us with some pumpkin pie to top it off.  Me and my brother in law like a little pie with our cool whip, so mom buys a big tub of it!

We called the hospital why we were all there and checked on my Dad.  They said his white blood count was 40.  This isn't good because it means there is a lot of infection in his body.  At one point in the beginning of the week it was at .3, on the other extreme.  They were happy when it went up to 4 the other day, and even better when it went to 9 - I guess that is pretty normal.  But now that it is up to 40, it means there is something really going on inside his body that isn't supposed to be there.

  • This is my out for a couple of days...

This is going to be a more personal blog for a while - sorry for not being Tablet PC related, but I need an out for a little while, and this is going to be it.

So they tried to start dialysis last night on my dad, it isn't working.  His body isn't handling it very well.  Is blood pressure has dropped down to 60/something...  all I know is that it's bad.   They are waiting for the cardiologist to get there to see if there is anything they can do.  He is still on the ventilator and they still don't know what is going on or causing this.  For the first time I am getting really worried that he might not be able to see his granddaughter again.

I haven't given up hope yet... but things aren't looking good right now.

  • What is going on at WWI

As you can tell, not much.  I haven't talked a lot about things going on in my personal life here on my blog, but some people might be wondering where I have been.  I have been spending a lot of time over at Gottabemobile.com but I have been spending even more time with my father, in person and in my mind.

My dad has been in the hospital for almost 4 months now.  A little over a year ago he received a lung transplant.  Things were going really well for a long time and it seemed like things were going to be OK.  Well, one day after leaving my house, he and my mom were heading over to my sisters.  When they arrived, my dad fell down a couple of stairs.  Not going into all the details, he has been there every since then - in varied stated of wellness.

This week was is not one of those good weeks.  He has been 'sleeping' since Monday.  They cannot wake him up.  He shows signs of movement, like he hears you, but not much else.  The biggest problem, is that the doctors cannot figure out what is wrong or why he is like this.  They say he is not in a coma, and his vitals are good...  his kidneys are doing some funny things...  I just don't know.....

My Tablet PC and looking over C# programming has been kind of my getaway.  Chatting with people like Josh and my buddy Doug - both of who seem to have a knack at finding things to take my mind off of my dad for a little while, even if for just a short while.

To be honest it hasn't been real easy, especially the past week when he has gotten really bad.

Here's to him getting better - Love you Dad!

  • Add Loopback adaptor in Vista RC1

I couldn't find the way to do this in the current "view" of Vista in the control panel for the life of me...  After trying to find it, while it is probably in plain view, I switched to 'classic' view' in the control panel.  To my surprise (not really) the first icon was add hardware...  continue as normal like you did in XP to add the loopback.

  • Toshiba M4 Widescreen External Monitor Settings - For Vista RC1

I have added a file to the download section.  This reg file will allow you to hook up an external monitor and set some custom resolutions.  I have a 24" widescreen that I can set a res of 1920x1200 from my M4.
