So in the past I have tried many things to get the fan on my M4 to stop running as much.  I even had to replace a keyboard because I took the other one apart trying to get some more air in there…

Well, tonight I got things together, and now my Tablet PC is running cool and a lot quieter (well more on this later) than ever.  This was my thought process since the beginning of trying to get more air on the fan:

Get more cool air in to the fan = quicker cooling = fan won’t run as much

It seems to have worked…  My fan used to stay on even if my computer was just sitting there doing nothing at all!  After this, it actually shuts off all the time. 

One thing of note – when the fan is running at full speed, it is now a little louder than it was before – I say this, but if you think about it, there is a lot more air going into the fan and thru the cooling fins.  A little more noise is to be expected.

Only thing I have done since the last picture is colored some of the metal back black with a Sharpe.  Also, I used some compressed air to blow off all of the metal shavings before I put everything back together.
